energy

It's amazing what the energy of a crowd does to a conference. Last week's crowd was good...but this week's crowd is unbelievable. Their energy is amazing. On the typical monday night at conference, I walk away from the night feeling a bit frustrated because the crowd wasn't as connected as I'd like them to be. It's normal for it to feel that way. You're doing new songs, people are getting used to you as a worship leader, the folks that come are weary from riding on a bus/van all day. This monday the crowd was ready to go as soon as they showed up. We've had a great time worshipping together...and the week is going great. Eric Epperson (ericepperson.blogspot.com) did a great job speaking on Monday night. There were 30-40 students that came forward after Eric's message, and at least that many after Jim Johnson's message last night.

Libby is doing really well. She's so fun. She's usually all smiles and loves to talk to herself during sessions. I never see her as i lead worship, but from what I hear, she loves to dance when the music is playing. She's getting more and more agile too. I don't think she's anywhere near crawling...but her and I have this new trick we do where I hold her feet and she stands up in my hand and I balance her. She absolutely loves it. She giggles and squeals as she stands up...having a great time. I love the fact that it scares people. It's fun to see people's reaction.

So the summer is going well. It's been a powerful couple of weeks and I'm looking forward to seeing what the Lord has in store. I've really enjoyed leading worship...but I'm looking forward to being the director only.

Joining the cult

Well...it's official. Erin and I are part of the cult...the Mac Cult. I'm typing this on Erin's new MacBook that arrived in CO yesterday. I don't know much about it, but it seems like a pretty slick machine.

My first week of Summer Confernce is over and done with. It was a taxing week. The week went well...only a few minor glitches.

Here's a family pic that we took with the on board camera from the MacBook.

Father's Day

This is my first official father's day. Erin asked me an intersting question last night. She asked, "What are some things about your dad that you want to emulate?" The first thing that came to mind was work ethic. My dad LOVES to work. On a mission trip in Mexico I started calling him "the ant". He just enjoys it. Other traits I thought of were integrity, honesty, and loyalty. I remeber a time when Dad had a guy play basketball for him and after 4 or five games, dad found out that the guy was technically ineligable. No one knew about it other than dad...and chances are no one would find out. Dad turned himself in and had to forfiet all the games the guy played in. It's even more impressive when you know how much my dad likes to win. He didn't let me win anything as I was growing up...not even once. So I admire him for doing what was right, even though it meant "losing". Anyway, those are some of the things that I hope I can be for Libby. She is such a hoot.

We've still got a lot of set up to do for CIY conference tomorrow. The crew is working real hard...and getting along well. We practiced our skits tomight and it looks like we've got a talented bunch of college reps here. They seemed to grasp the concept and were able to run with it.

We had a church service together on top of the mountain here in Durango. A pretty sweet place to have church if you ask me!
